Biz Makeover

Lori Denny

Author: Jackie Rogers
Photographer: Alex Stafford

Lori Denny - Before: Too informal; After: Polished and professionalLori Denny, marketing and communications manager at Southtech Solutions and active board member of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, is always on the go. She wanted to hit the “refresh button” on her wardrobe and update her style.

LORI’S GOAL: “I wanted more suits and a more sophisticated image that better reflects my goals as a successful businesswoman.”

JACKIE’S APPROACH: “Lori is always in the public eye. Since she attends so many meetings, my plan was to expand her wardrobe foundation pieces, allowing her to create an alternate look to a typical suit jacket. I chose a body-skimming sweater in a natural fabric with a coordinating camisole to work over pinstripe pants that belong to a suit. This combination gives her mix-and-match options, and the sweater still works like a jacket. I added a patent leather, peep-toe wedge for comfort and style. As for accessories, I selected a necklace and earrings that play up the color of the sweater and her green eyes. Lori typically wears delicate jewelry, but I wanted to illustrate how great a larger-scale piece would look on her without being overwhelming. Keep proportion in mind when selecting accessories, as you don’t want to have the piece wearing you.”

LORI’S TAKE: “I enjoyed the process and look forward to finding options that flatter and fit me when I shop.”

Where to buy

Kasper pants (part of three-piece suit), $168, from Macy’s; Eileen Fisher sweater, $228, and camisole top, $168, from Dillard’s; Kenneth Cole necklace, $145, earrings, $32, and Alex Marie patent wedges, $79, all from Dillard’s.
